High- and low-level computations for coordination of orofacial motor actions
Team BRAIN Circuit Program (U19) NS137920
We seek to discover principles that explain the design and function of brain-wide systems, guided by control theory and with a focus on rodent-based experiments. We aim to reveal how brainstem and higher brain circuits coordinate rhythmic orofacial motor actions like whisking, licking, and chewing, and how low-level oscillators (driving rhythm) and high-level signals (modulating posture and timing) interact for precise behavior.
